The Writer’s Strike is sucking the life out of television. I mean there is nothing on. EXCEPT the greatest thing to hit Sunday nights in quite some time…it is a brand new Masterpiece Series on PBS: The Complete Jane Austen:
Presented for the first time on US television, the classic season kicks off with The Complete Jane Austen, featuring adaptations of all six Austen novels and a new biopic of her life.
If you haven’t tuned in the last two Sundays to see Persuasion and Northanger Abbey, you have missed out indeed. But never fear, Mansfield Park awaits us in just three days, and I guarantee you it will be as good as the first two. As an added bonus, Gillian Anderson does a quick intro. She looks pretty darn amazing.
Personally speaking, I feel like it is fate, since I just finished Emma and am about to move on to Sense & Sensibility (or maybe Persuasion since it was so fab on the 12th??) to continue my Jane Austen obsession.
Lynda tipped me off on this great series from an LA Times article on it’s debut, talking about how this series is being rebranded to a younger crowd. WOO HOO.
Everyone here at Denver HQ watches religiously (Kim and Lynne have already read all her novels…more than once), and I’m pretty sure The Hus and I will be purchasing the set of DVDs upon completion. Hey - you’ve gotta support PBS!
Love, Tracey
